dark worship

If you've been here awhile then you know I have had some issues with worship leading in the past. But I'm happy to say that I am still loving being a part of the team at LFC-D. This past Sunday I sang and we did one of my new favorites, Oh How I Need You by All Sons & Daughters. Christmas Eve we sang one of my favorites, Rising Sun by All Sons & Daughters. On Easter is was All The Poor and Powerless by All Sons & Daughters. Are you seeing a pattern? Yes, I have finally found writers of worship music that I get, that bring me to my knees (okay not literally cause that would be bad for my EDS body), that feel like came right from my heart. They write songs of brokenness and humility and aching.

I know that songs of celebration are important. But, they just simple don't move me the way these songs do. I need songs of promises and scripture and praise but I think I mainly need dark and hopeful songs. That's where I am and that's what I want to sing. I'm so thankful for these songs and for this group. They have brought gorgeous, truthful, "sad" worship songs. I'm so thankful for their leading and I hope that our church has been led well with these songs, I think so. The song I still connect the most with is this one...

Brokenness Aside by Leslie Jordan and David Leonard
(All Sons & Daughters)

Will your grace run out
If I let you down
‘Cause all I know
Is how to run

‘Cause I am a sinner
If its not one thing its another
Caught up in words
Tangled in lies
You are the Savior
And you take brokenness aside
And make it beautiful
Beautiful

Will you call me child
When I tell you lies
Cause all I know
Is how to cry

I am a sinner
If its not one thing its another
Caught up in words
Tangled in lies
You are the Savior
And you take brokenness aside
And make it beautiful
Beautiful

You make it beautiful
You make it beautiful
