Bucket List

I know everyone has one, even if you haven't ever written it out. Most lists are full of places and sites to visit and see, which is great. I have some of those on my list too, in fact I have a whole pinterest board dedicated to those places. Some lists have ones that make me literally laugh out loud - like #4 on Karrie's list. But, I've realized that my list is different. It most likely is similar to most musicians but I feel like their's would be more on the lines of "sing on the tonight show" or "play on snl" or etc, you get the idea. Mine is different, I think because I am different. I am more certain than ever that I am not like most performers out there, but that's okay. I like who I am (most days) and I'm happy with the way I do music.

But, here's my bucket list... in no particular order.

1. Hear Gemma Hayes sing live and in person. This is the closest I've ever come to hearing her live...

2. Sing backup with Gemma Hayes.

3. Sing backup with Over the Rhine.

4. Sing back up for Patty Griffin.

5. Sing Come Pick Me Up with Ryan Adams. yep, cuss words and all. Sorry ya'll, I'm just being honest :( but I did choose a video below that edits the words out for your ears!

6. Sing at The Ryman.

7. See the Northen Lights in person. and possibly sleep under them in one of these...

8. Take a train across America and Canada.

9. Make a record of my own music and release it. - this one is about to be crossed off!!!

10. Antartica. Yes, I've always wanted to go. I don't think I will ever get to but it still makes the list.

this list could go on and on because there are so very many artists I would like to sing back up for. But I will stop at 10.

  1. Teenager Me told my dad that I wanted to be famous for being a back-up singer. He looked at me sideways and said nothing.

Anyway, I TOTALLY get all the sing-with-so-and-so items on your list. I've created a third Indigo Girl part for myself on just about every track of Swamp Ophelia and Rites of Passage, much to the annoyance of anyone in my car.
